Become A Host Family
Our host families serve an integral role in our international student program. Host families are one of the first friendly faces our international students meet at Grace Academy, and they invite these students into a Christ-centered home life. Speaking English in the home in normal conversation helps many international students develop their language skills, as English is often their second language. Families may choose to host short-term or long-term (9-month academic year) and are given a stipend.
Summer Opportunities to Host
For the last several summers we have hosted groups who desire to receive English as a Second Language (ESL) training and cultural experience. This summer will be no different as God is opening some amazing doors for our school to impact students lives as we have been contacted to host camps again.
Below are the dates for our 2016 International Summer Camps. During each week of camp, students arrive on Sunday afternoons and depart on Saturday morning. Camps run Monday-Friday with ESL class in the morning followed by afternoon activities in the community. Host families would be responsible for dropping students off at 8:30 a.m. at the school and picking them up at 5 p.m.

"These are not just kids from far away places who stay at our house, but they have become our kids whom we love. We have had an amazing opportunity to have a reverse missions trip around the kitchen table on a daily basis, providing opportunities to witness to these kids about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." - C. Casto
“Being a host family is the best experience ever!” - Mrs. Smith
"Hosting wasn't as challenging or difficult as I had imagined it. I hosted a middle school girl from China. She went by the American name May. May's english was pretty good and we actually had a lot of great conversations throughout the week. We talked about both American and Chinese culture. May showed me pictures of her home in China, and she really enjoyed the rural areas around Hagerstown. It was a great overall experience, and I'd be happy to host again in the future!" - K. Morgan
